Are You Letting Self Doubt Keep You From Reaching Your Goals?

What is Self Doubt?

Self-Doubt is your lack of confidence in yourself and your abilities. Self doubt can keep you from doing the things you want to do and it can keep you from reaching the goals you’ve set for yourself. In fact, it can be quite paralyzing, keeping you from moving forward towards the life and business you have been dreaming of.

Let’s face it – no one wants to be stuck in a life that is not fulfilling.

So how can you get past your self doubt?

The key to banishing those doubtful feelings and the little voice in your head that tells you that it can’t be done is confidence. And the best way to build up your confidence is to take action.  As long as you are taking actions that move your closer to your goal, you will be able to reach your goal.

I love to cross stitch, and I tend to pick out big projects that take a long time – I’m talking more than 1 year long projects.  Often times when I’m working on a large project, I feel like it will never be done – so I take a break.  I find a small project that can be finished quickly – a few hours up to about 1 week – and then I have a finished project.  It builds my belief that I will actually finish the bigger project.

What can you do to build your confidence and move you closer to your goal?

Another way to build confidence is to look at what you have already accomplished.  We often don’t give ourselves enough credit for all that we have done and just beat ourselves up for what remains to be accomplished.

This can help you overcome fear about taking the next step also.  Seeing everything you’ve already done may give you just the boost of self-confidence you need to keep your self doubt at bay.

Are you working with a coach or mentor?

Finding an advisor or mentor can also be amazingly helpful. I became a coach because I was so helped by my first coach Rachel – we are still friends.   Having someone there to hold your hand or just to cheer you on can help you make sure that you are moving towards your goals.  If I can be of any help to you please comment below, or reach out to me privately by using the contact form here.

Give yourself a break

Break down your big goal into smaller tasks. It doesn’t take nearly as much confidence to tackle a small task as it does to attack that big goal.  And each time you complete a small task you are building your confidence.  Little by little you’ll make progress and eventually reach your goal.

If overwhelm is an issue for you, this is a great strategy.

The main thing is to acknowledge the feelings of self-doubt, but don’t let them take control over your life. Yes, it’s normal to doubt yourself. It happens to all of us. Just do what it takes to get you moving and working towards your goals despite your self doubt.

You’re capable of so much more than you think you are. You just need to prove it to yourself.

How to Develop a Goal Achiveing Mindset

Developing a Goal Achieving Mindset

There are very many ways that one can create an goal acheiving mindset, trial and error will help you find what works best for you.

The truth is success is in the mind – your thoughts have power.  Your idea of success may not be the same as mine – we may have different goals.  This is why it is so important to make sure that your mindset is open to the work required to meet the goals your are setting.

It is not what happens that controls you but the way you react to those happenings.

To reach a goal, you will have to make changes, you will have to challenge yourself.  As you work closer to your goals, you will encounter obstacles, having the proper mindset, will help you navigate these rough waters.

Successful people understand the value of failure, and to be a success you will want to learn how to view your failures or mis-steps in an objective manner to be able to learn from them.  This shift in thinking is what allows most successful people to flourish. People like Thomas Edison, Oprah Winfrey and Steve Jobs, to drop a few names.  They learned even when they failed, this mindset allowed them to reach pinnacles of success that most people never even dream of – you can do the same with your goals even if they are not as big as these mega celebrities.

How to Effectively Write Down Your Goals So That You Achieve Them

In our professional and personal lives, we are constantly working toward goals, trying to motivate ourselves and direct our behavior in a more positive direction. Perhaps your goal is to complete a certain amount of work in x-time, perhaps it is to increase profits by so much, or maybe it’s to get into great shape and lose fat.  But did you know that if you don’t write down your goals they are not as effective in spurring you into meaningful action.

Goals are a big part of our lives for most of us. Only problem is, a lot of us don’t know the best way to write these goals if we want to actually achieve them and this creates problems.  Writing down your goals in a meaningful way makes all the difference in your ability to achieve them.

The Problem With Most Goals

The goal of ‘losing weight’ or even ‘losing X pounds’ is one that you’ll see commonly and that is similar to the goal of ‘growing profits’ in business. Either way, this is an example of an abstract goal that has no structure and that has very little chance of coming to fruition.

The problem with goals like this is that they are a) vague and b) largely out of your control.

If your goal is to increase profits or get into shape by next year, what does this involve doing on a daily basis? It’s all too easy to not be productive towards that goal daily because you probably think you can worry about it later – or because you don’t even know how to go about achieving it.

How to Overcome the Content Creation Challenge

Creating ongoing content for your blog seems to be a challenge for most online business owners at some time or another.  The easiest way to overcome this challenge is to have a plan.  I have gone through several courses myself to help me get over the content creation challenge myself.  Truly, it was simple, but profound solutions that seemed to help the best.

One common theme was to create a content grid of topics – 50 to 100 topics on your grid just to get started.  I really struggled with this.  It made me feel like I didn’t know my subject matter.  (but I really do) The bottom line was initially the grid didn’t seem to help me.

I would look over my list of topics, that felt forced and repetitive, and I wouldn’t write a thing.  Or I would write a few sentences and quit.  Yet, many people found these grids helpful, so tried again, and again.   Read More →

Do You Kow How to Position Yourself as an Expert?

Last weekend I had the privledge of attending Connie Ragen Green’s Weekend Marketer Live Event.  It was a wonderful 3 days that gave me a deeper understanding of my business and how I would like it to grow.  As part of the event Connie, who has a loyal following, offered us all the opportunity to contribute to a product called Position Yourself as an Expert.   I was honored to able to the product and to do it in the short time frame, just 3 days.

Isn’t it wonderful when we push ourselves and find how much more we are capable of?  I know I love the satisfaction I get from pushing myself and finding I’m able to do more than I thought I could in the first place.  I have worried about many aspects of product creation, and this weekend showed me that I’m capable of creating a small information product in 3 days time.  And its not junk, it is a report I’m proud to have my name on.  It is on a topic that is dear to my heart, and yet I still sometimes find myself struggling with on occasion.

I would be thrilled if you were to pick up a copy for yourself.  I’m not the only expert featured, so you will have the opportunity to learn from several experts in their own fields.  I know you won’t be dissapointed.  Click here to get your copy of Position Yourself as an Expert.

As we become online solopreneurs, we may be positioning ourselves as an expert in a new field to us, or even just on a new platform.  This can cause doubt, but don’t let it.  I do not have professional organizing credentials, I do have great organizing instincts and am great at helping business owners develop systems.  I don’t think that I’m less capable without the credentials, in many ways I think this actually gives me an advantage, but that is just my opinion.

One of the amazing aspects of purchasing this product, is that you can become a part of the product.  This means that you can submit your own report on what makes you an expert in your field and your name will be added to the sales page and your report will become part of the product.  If you have been trying to get your name “out there” online, this is a great opportunity, don’t miss out.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss what makes you an expert, just use the contact form here and we can set up a time to talk.  I would love to help you position yourself as an expert in your own field.

What on Earth Is an Organizing Coach?

I get asked this question a lot, so I thought you might want to know too.

The simple answer is that I help you figure out why you are disorganized and help you address those areas of your life.  But that is just the simple answer, the truth is, so many solopreneuers get stuck in taking the next step in their business because of some real or imagined clutter.

I have been part of multiple masterminds and online groups, and there is always at least 1 person who feeling that they can’t move forward because they need to be more organized.  Now sometimes the solution is about getting organized, but more often the problem goes deeper than they clutter, and I help you get to the root of the problem and actually be able to move forward in their business.

A great example is recently I was talking with a woman who said she loved the idea of doing a time study and has tried several times, but always forgets while in the middle of time frame, so she never completes the time study.  Now, this looks like a problem with the time study, but I think the problem is a deeper need for perfection.  And on closer study, this pattern was showing up in other areas of her life as well.  Completing a time study would not help her solve this problem, so my job as on organizing coach, is to help you get to the root of the problem.  Now I’m not saying that there is always a deeper problem, sometimes, I just help you set up systems, or create some tweaks to better suit you talents, and your business.

My job as your coach is the same as a life coach, or a business coach, my job is to help you.  I would love to be your person if you need help, you can sign up for a session here or you can comment below to find out more.

If you are stuck, get help, an outside set of eyes can usually help you see things differently.
